Sacred Heart Lay Ministry Schedule - Lectors & Extraordinary Ministers

Fall 2009 (Sept 13-Nov 29)

Thanks for all the EM’s who continue to serve. Scheduling is much easier when there is a good supply of names. Some EM’s double as Lectors so their names get shifted in the rotations. Sorry, but EM’s doubling as Greeters don’t get the same break—wish we could.
A number of Lectors are out for a while or have schedules making it difficult to fit the calendar. Not having heard from several of you, schedules were made out with crossed fingers. It is possible you will be soloing more than once. We’ll try to stay on top of that in the office so that doesn’t happen, but you should try to get there early and recruit a lector if you prefer a partner.

You may communicate directly to that address to exclude dates for future schedules or to notify us that a substitute is coming in your place. Please note however, that the parish website does not offer any direct means for finding a substitute. That still remains your responsibility. (This schedule is also posted on the parish website.)
While some preferred the Summer’s color formatted spreadsheet, others did not. It is more time-consuming to construct, especially with the odd weekends of November. Until there’s time to program entries on that form, the old form will be used.
Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26, is not scheduled (and may occur at St. Stephen this year). Regardless, Father will need volunteers. Watch the bulletin as the day nears.
A topic concerning Father is scheduling EM’s, Greeters, Lectors, and Servers at Saturday masses. He is recommending that ministers attending Saturday mass on a regular basis should—regardless of parish membership—assist at the 4:30 mass they attend. He has not come to any decision on that, so you may want to share your thoughts on the matter with him before he does.
